Ann Landers was somebody people could speak in confidence, when they had no other person to go to. She was a name people could rely on for clear-cut guidance - no nonsense came from her pen. She was a true pal to those in need.
Ann Landers was born on July 4, 1918, from A. and R. Friedman, who were Jewish and emigrated from Russia to America in 1908.
She was mostly recognized for scripting the renowned syndicated guidance feature "Ann Landers." In the past four decade, her guidance feature has supported lovelorn youth, puzzled parents, partners on the verge of separation, sorrowful widows, and countless others who are require guidance.
Interpreted into many different languages, Esther P.F Lederer, also recognized professionally as Ann Landers, was read by thousands of people with her lucid, amusing and at times ironic articles. She would often reprimand a wayward letter-writer with the clever remark, "Watch it, bub!"
By the late fifties, "Ann Landers" had acknowledged over 1000 speaking requests as well as appearing in many metropolises, and even paid a visit to China. Vigorous in nationwide and neighboring causes like Christmas for Easter Seal drive, she raised the issues of the privileges of little kids, women and people with disabilities. Because she volunteered for countless of hours, and had varied and faithful readers, she became successful in raising the matters of distress to every person
She died of cancer on June 22, 2002
