Douglas MacArthur had very poor grades until he went to West Point Academy in 1899. He graduated in 1903 valedictorian and set a new academic performance.
In 1906, MacArthur was selected to become President Theodore Roosevelt aide de camp and, in 1913, was working with President Wilson.
In August 1918, MacArthur received another promotion and was in charge of the 84th Infantry Brigade, which led many successful attack in France. He earned many medals that led him to be recognized nationally.
